PointsWill Punjab's local government elections be held on or before 15 January 2027?
Punjab has been without elected local councils since the previous ones lapsed, and the province has missed its own timelines for fresh polls more than once. In August 2026 the Election Commission of Pakistan agreed to a Punjab government proposal to hold local body elections in a window running from 15 December 2026 to 15 January 2027. Whether polling actually happens inside that window, or slips again, is still open.
Resolves: 20 January 2027 • Source: Election Commission of Pakistan announcement or official results (ecp.gov.pk)
Rule: Resolves YES if polling for local government elections in Punjab is actually conducted on or before 15 January 2027, taking the Election Commission of Pakistan's own announcement or official results as proof. Polling held in only some districts of Punjab still counts as YES, provided the ECP records it as local government polling in Punjab. A notified schedule or an announced polling date without polling having taken place, delimitation and electoral-roll exercises, cantonment board elections, by-elections to existing bodies, and polls held in any other province or in Islamabad all resolve NO.
