Will the ECP announce a polling date for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's local government elections on or before 31 October 2026?

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's local councils have been left without elected representatives while the Election Commission of Pakistan waits for the province to settle its local government law. The ECP said on 1 August 2026 that it is ready to hold the polls but blamed last-minute legal amendments for the delay, and it has warned the provincial and federal governments repeatedly about missed deadlines. No polling day for KP has been notified so far. Resolves: 31 October 2026 • Source: Election Commission of Pakistan announcement or notification (ecp.gov.pk) Rule: Resolves YES if the Election Commission of Pakistan publicly announces or notifies a specific polling date for local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on or before 31 October 2026, whether in an election schedule, a press release or a formal notification. The polling date itself may fall after 31 October. A statement that the ECP is ready, a consultative meeting, a court order directing that polls be held, a delimitation or electoral-roll schedule, and a date floated by the KP provincial government without the ECP do not count. An announcement covering only Punjab, Islamabad or any other jurisdiction does not count.
