PointsWill Benjamin Netanyahu still be Prime Minister of Israel on 31 December 2026?
Israel holds a general election on 27 October 2026, with Netanyahu seeking another term after the twelve-day war with Iran and the Gaza ceasefire. Under Israeli practice the incumbent stays on as caretaker until a new government is sworn in, and coalition talks have historically taken weeks or months. Whether he still holds the office at the end of the year depends both on the result and on how fast a government is formed.
Resolves: 31 December 2026 • Source: Government of Israel official listing of the Prime Minister (gov.il), as reported by Reuters
Rule: Resolves YES if Benjamin Netanyahu holds the office of Prime Minister of Israel on 31 December 2026, including in a caretaker or transitional capacity, taking the Israeli government's own official listing of the office holder. Losing the election without a successor yet sworn in resolves YES. Resolves NO if anyone else has been sworn in as Prime Minister, including an interim or alternate prime minister, or if Netanyahu has resigned, been removed or otherwise ceased to hold the office.
